This week, we had a very engaging discussion with a group of students who are currently completing their second year in Software Engineering, primarily working with Python. It was a valuable exchange, as they were eager to learn from experienced developers particularly about their career paths and the transition from student life to the corporate environment.
Several key points were highlighted during the discussion. One of the most important was the need for continuous self-improvement and upskilling as a software engineer. It was emphasized that, in today’s competitive environment, a university degree alone may not always be sufficient to enter the workforce. Building personal projects while studying is essential, as it helps prepare students for real-world challenges and creates opportunities to deepen their knowledge and stand out.
We also stressed the importance of obtaining certifications, as they can open additional career opportunities beyond coding. The technology field offers a wide range of career paths, many of which are still evolving. These include areas such as AI training, Quality Assurance in its various forms, advanced automation, and more.
In a time when artificial intelligence has significantly transformed many aspects of our lives, developers must adapt quickly to remain relevant. This also applies to students, who need to adjust their approach if they wish to succeed in this rapidly changing landscape.
It was truly a rewarding experience for AlainTech to engage with these young talents who are passionately pursuing their dreams and doing what they love most.
The online discussion was fruitful and left me feeling more eager to prepare myself to look for a job in the software development industry. I also came to learn that there are many opportunities available to those who want to be an active part of the industry. It has also become increasingly important for professionals not to limit themselves to opportunities that are available only in their current geographical location, but to cast their nets as far and wide as possible. I strongly believe that this will ensure growth.
